XVideos is a free tube built around breadth. It has a very large library, solid search and extensive categories, so whatever you’re looking for is probably there. The catches are a dated interface, ads that can get intrusive, and uploads of very uneven quality.

What it does well

Volume is the point. The category list is long and covers plenty of niche interests. Search and filters are good, and the recommendations adjust to what you watch. You can watch without an account.

The video player works, and pages load quickly. The site also works well on mobile.

Content comes from a mix of community uploads and professional material. Uploads keep new clips arriving, and studio content is reposted regularly.

It doesn’t try to be a social site. There are no features built around following creators or interacting with a community. It’s a large catalogue you search.

The catches

The interface looks dated. It’s functional, but nobody would call it pleasant. If design matters to you, Beeg is much cleaner.

Ads are present and can be intrusive. An ad blocker helps, on desktop and on your phone.

Upload quality varies a lot. Some clips are full HD professional productions, and others are low-quality amateur footage. Because the library is so big, you’ll run into more of the weaker stuff than you would on a curated site.

Who it suits

XVideos suits you if you know what you want and want to search for it, particularly if it’s something specific. It’s also a fair default if you just want a large free library and don’t care much about how the site looks.

Look elsewhere if you want a small, polished selection, in which case Beeg is a better fit. For amateur uploads and creator profiles, xHamster is the closer match.
