Stripchat review

Stripchat is a free-to-watch, tip-based cam site. It sits between Chaturbate’s sprawl and LiveJasmin’s focus on paid private shows: you can watch public rooms without spending anything, and private shows exist but aren’t the main event. It has a dedicated VR section, a cleaner interface than Chaturbate and a better mobile experience. The catches are the usual ones for this model, and they come down to teasing and token spend.

What it does well

Browsing is open to anyone, and public rooms don’t require tokens. Most of the action is public shows where performers work for tips. Tokens pay for tips, and a tip can set off a performer’s interactive toy or open up part of a show; private shows cost extra.

There is a dedicated VR section. If you have a headset and want to watch cams in VR, Stripchat gives you a place to look for rooms set up for it, and the filters let you narrow to VR-enabled streams. Whether a given VR room is any good depends on the performer, as with everything else on a live site.

Performers include couples, men, women and trans performers, from professional-looking studio setups to people streaming from home. Interactive toys are widely supported, so tips can control vibrations during a show. Some rooms stream in 4K, depending on the performer’s setup. Cam-to-cam exists too, but most rooms charge tokens to turn it on.

The interface is tidier than you’d expect from a site this busy. You can filter by category, performer type, language, region and VR availability. Search works, and individual performer pages are clean. On a phone it holds up better than Chaturbate does, and the ads are less aggressive than on many free sites.

The catches

Public shows can be teasing. Performers often hold back the explicit parts for tips or private sessions, so a free room is frequently more of a preview than a full show.

Token spend adds up. Tipping is easy to do in the moment, and the total climbs faster than it feels like it does. Private show rates vary from performer to performer, and nothing stops you running up a large bill if you don’t track what you’ve spent. Set yourself a budget before you buy tokens.

Who it suits

Stripchat suits you if you want to watch for free and tip as you go, but find Chaturbate cluttered, or if you want to try VR cams. It’s also a good fit for watching on a phone.

If you want a heavy focus on polished private shows, LiveJasmin is built for that. If you’d rather have a bigger, noisier pool of public rooms, look at Chaturbate.
